Abstract

SCOPE

This NORDTEST method describes the evalution of the performance characteristics of surface treatments used in porous building facades. By comparing the properties of coatings on the substrate in question a suitable and most durable combination can be selected.

FIELD OF APPLICATION

The methods can be used in the selection of coatings for porous wall surfaces e.g. concrete, renderings and wood. The test methods are mainly intended for facade coatings. In the case of indoor wall coatings, methods are recommended in cases where the coating has to have resistance, for instance, to humidity, sulphur dioxide or abrasion. The methods are suitable mainly for comparative studies.
