Abstract

This document specifies a NORDTEST method for simple measurements of air traffic noise reduction of dwellings. Air traffic noise immission in residential areas in the neighbourhood of airports and airfields normally penetrates into the dwellings through a number of different propagation paths during each aircraft operation. This happens at the same time as the frequency composition of the noise varies. Thus the described method of measurements of air traffic noise reduction of dwellings will be based on time-integrated noise descriptors. The method specifies procedures for measurements of both the frequency-dependent air traffic noise reduction per 1/3 octave band, Dj,at, and the air traffic noise reduction, DAE,at, expressed by the difference between the sound exposure level outdoors and the sound exposure level indoors.
