Abstract

1. SCOPE

This NORDTEST method specifies a method to test the mould resistance of paint films on any substrate. It has also been found suitable for testing mould resistance of varnishes and lacquers.

2. FIELD OF APPLICATION

This method is universally applicable to coatings on flat panels of wood, plaster, steel or other suitable substrates. The procedure described measures an intrinsic property of the coating which may change with the substrate. It should be noted that changes occurring during the storage of the fluid coating may influence the mould resistance of the applied dry coating film. The mould resistance of a dry coating may also change during ageing. The test panels are therefore conditioned in a suitable environment before being inoculated with test organisms.
