Abstract

1. SCOPE

Light-weight beams of wood are used in buildings in joists, purlins and trusses, etc. They are primarily subjected to static bending, shear forces and concentrated loads at the supports.

2. FIELD OF APPLICATION

The purpose is to determine strength and stiffness of beams under conditions corresponding to normal use of light-weight beams. For conditions that deviate considerably from what is stated in this method strength results should be applied with care.
