Abstract

SCOPE

This NORDTEST method describes the testing of bending strength and stiffness of floor and roof elements loaded with a uniformly distributed load. The load is applied either by the use of airpressure in airbags; method A, or by vacuum, method B. The loading method is determined by the type of element, purpose of test, available equipment etc.

FIELD OF APPLICATION

The method is primarily established for prototype testing of light floor and roof elements to determine their flexural stiffness and maximum load-bearing capacity under uniformly distributed load, when the elements have one single free span. However, the principles of the method may be used for testing elements with more than one span, or other types of elements (sheet materials etc.).
