Abstract

1. SCOPE

This test method gives rules on the determination of strength and stiffness of punched metal plate fasteners and joints with punched metal plate fasteners. The determining of the metal plate material properties such as yield stress, tensile strength and testing of protection against corrosion is not dealt with in this standard. This test method includes methods for determining the following properties:
  • capacity for load transfer between plate and timber
  • the plate shear capacity
  • the plate tensile and compression capacity
  • the joint stiffness
  • the integral nail bending ductility

2. FIELD OF APPLICATION

This method is used for determining the strength and stiffness of punched metal plate fasteners and of joints with punched metal plate fasteners in statically loaded timber structures.
