Reverberant test rooms: Sound absorption – Reference sound source (NT ACOU 040)

Abstract

This document specifies a NORDTEST method, using a reference sound source, for determination of the normalization constant 10 lg A of a room. The method described is based on the fact that within a room a direct dependency exists between the equivalent absorption area of the room, and the average sound pressure level produced by a stable and well-known sound source. Based on separate measurements of the reverberation time in the room during decay and measurements of the sound pressure level with the reference sound source operating, this interrelation can be determined.
