Fasteners for timber frame sheeting – Development of a test method for single fasteners (NT TR 553)

Abstract

  The report deals with a test method to evaluate the mechanical response of single fastener joints for sheeting of timber frames. The materials investigated include chipboards, gypsum boards and fibreboards. Different fastener types were also used, including nails and screw. The complete load-deformation responses of the single fasteners were recorded and the failure types documented. Parameters investigated, besides the materials were edge distances, load-to-grain angles, joint assembly climate, pre-test conditioning climates and wood density.
